Intermediate Dance
(Ballet+Contemp+Choreo)

All Intermediate Dance students start EVERY CLASS with Ms Marian’s structured WARM-UPs - a basic start for dancers of ALL ages. The Dance 2 warmups are very challenging and demanding for the intermediate dancer with the objective to achieve an “ensemble” feeling. Warmups are followed by movements in Center, Across the Floor and basic Acro, followed by a choreography that gets more difficult each week including. The DG uses props, music, singing, celebratory dances, partner and group choreography, costumes and makeup to support our graded system.

A minimum of 2 years studio dance experience is required to join this class.

Movement is a human's first form of expression! Research shows that a child’s academic, self-esteem, cognitive, motor, and social developmental skills INCREASE when they participate in a performance-focused art form. And DANCE is the leader - especially for the young child.

DANCE teaches children to think in a totally different way. Emotion and imagery get translated into movement - a powerful tool for kids who may have challenges expressing themselves verbally about their feelings or ideas. And, important to many parents, Dance teaches creative skills and self awareness.

We all strive to have our children live happy lives with the ability to communicate without frustration. Ms Marian is known for her individualized and nurturing style of teaching in her work in private studios, membership organizations and school systems. In 1980, Ms Marian wrote a book for Early Childhood Educators (Pre K to 1st grade) presenting Creative Movement/Dance exercises as an alternative to traditional PE classes. She has inspired thousands of children to discover the joy and wonder of Dance.
